Tavia wasn't sure that she was ever going to get used to this whole 'being away from home' business. She'd never left their Hold before, and to leave it for something so dramatically different had the Candidate experiencing a bit of, for lack of a better word, culture shock.
Wandering aimlessly through the corridors of the ship, hoping feebly that she was not going to get into anybodies way, she absently wondered what exactly there was to do in a place like this.
For all the crew, naturally, there were responsibilities, but for one lone girl, feeling totally out of her depth, there was not a great deal.
A bolder person might have explored, and that was, indeed, what she was doing to some extent. Not that Tavia would have classified it as such.
She was just...going for a walk.
Faranth, though, it was confusing. If she kept going, she would find herself in the bowels of the ship, and then she'd never get out, and undoubtedly die in there, with nobody to hear her cries...Alright, so maybe that was a bit much, but she couldn't help it.
Fajra, perched on her shoulder, chittered scoldingly at this not-so-pleasant flight of fancy, and the slightly plump girl raised a hand to stroke the gold's head.
"Sorry," she mumbled. "I didn't mean it." That was another wonder...how on Pern had she managed to bond to a Gold firelizard? It was rather beyond her, but since Fajra didn't appear to be going anywhere, she had determined that she would have to adjust to that particular marvel.
The same way that she was adjusting (or not, as the case may be) to all the marvels around her.
